Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park on the Big Sur Coast offers a view of a 80 foot waterfall that drops from cliffs onto a beach next to a beautiful cove. This marked our first stop there ever and the view is certainly spectacular. It is only a pity the beach itself is not open to the public.
We continued south on Highway 1 along the coast, making an occasional stop to snap a photo. We let the kids out on the small beach at Limekiln State Park, enjoyed the sunset into the ocean farhter down the coast and arrived in Morro Bay in the dark. Our Best Western stays during our trip to Canada earned me a promotional free night and San Marcos Inn was the only available on a day-to-day notice. In spite of its mixed reviews, it was a pleasant surprise including its free wine and cheese in the evening.
