Great photologue!
This site really sparked my interest in visiting the Dientes Circuit myself, the info on this site and your beautiful photos are all I needed to make my mind up to go! (I had difficulty choosing between this circuit and Los Glaciares).
Thank you very much, keep up the good work on this site.

Nice pictures of the Dalton Highway. Don't be such a snob -- Colorado isn't exactly the center of the cultural universe either. What we do have here in Fairbanks is pristine air and land and a thousand mile buffer between us and idiots like you. Save your money and backpack the Rockies next summer.

I spent three summer seasons working and playing on Homer spit. It is the most wonderful vibrant place on earth. Living back in my home town of Durban, South Africa, i often yearn for the chance to belly up to the bar in the Salty Dawg and sink another cold one. Thanks for the great photo's and a trip down memory lane.

Ahoj, Radku. Mas tu velmi pekne fotografie i z mist, na ktera se ja niiikdy nepodivam, coz u mne neni otazka financni, ale vec osobniho pristupu :-). Great Page !!!! your pictures are really beautiful. You said that you use Cannon cameras; what Camera is that? what lens? do you use any special film or it is a regular film? I have a Cannon ELAN-II and some cheap lenses (a 35-80mm, a 70-200mm and a 28mm) I am a newbie in photography even when I'm 40, but you know the phrase "Never is late to begin".
I have seen some of your wife pictures too, and I think that they are very beautiful too. Congratulations,

I love the Winds! Most of my backpacking (since 1980) has been in the Southern end, but I just completed a hike into Chain & Cook Lakes, and Titcomb Basin last month (August 2003). Your pictures are wonderful! If you choose the Winds for another hike, might I suggest going in via the Big Sandy opening up to Mae's Lake. Head over Hailey Pass and tent along Baptiste Creek under Mount Hooker...gorgeous! I like to loop around Graves Lake and over Washakie Pass back to Big Sandy. It's best done in 6 days. If time is a concern (and money is not) get horses from Big Sandy Lodge to ride you up to Mae's Lake and have them meet you four days later on the west side of Washakie Pass. Now that I'm getting older, the use of horses for part of the trip is a real treat. My photos from that area came out great!
Thanks for sharing...Happy Trails!

Thanks for the photos of Alaska. I travelled from New York City to Alaska in August 2003, and it was by far the most exhilarating trip I've ever taken. The drive from Anchorage to Seward is the most scenic drive I have ever experienced. Alaska is a wonderful place; one of the few pristine places left on earth. I plan to visit Alaska again soon, and I encourage others to do likewise.

The best Torres del Paine photographs EVER are the ones from YOUR page!
My attention was first drawn to an article in www.photo.net about Patagonia, the most incredible place I´ve been to in my life. At the end of the article, a bunch of links, and one of them was to your page. I have seen your photographs ever since countless times, and I have sent your homepage address to all my backpacking friends here in Brazil. Everyone is amazed.
I have visited the Chilean Patagonia in December 2002 and January 2003, and spent 5 days in Torres del Paine. I feel proud of the photographs I took with my little digicam, an Olympus D40Z, and at that time I was just starting my studies in this wonderful Art of Photography. I later bought myself a Canon EOS 10D, got myself a wonderful wide-angle lens (EF 17-35mm f/2.8 L USM), and in a short period of 17 days between December 2003 and January 2004 I did the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and visited some parts of Peru.
I really have this desire to improve my limited composition skills, and seeing photographs like yours are an inspiration. What kind of photography equipment did you take? The medium you chose was slide, right? If so, which slide film? What kind of lenses did you take? Did you use any GND filters? Cable release? Tripod? Filters? I really have to ask you these questions because they are not only mine, but from quite a lot of fellow amateur photographers I showed your homepage to.
Congratulations, Radek!
My photographs can be seen following the link below, and you are very invited to do so. Be my guest!

Very nice pictures. I found your site before I went to Navarino, and it really got me excited. The only thing wrong that I noticed on looking at it again is that you were misinformed by a faulty map. The map you show says that the river to the west of Cerro Bandera is the Ukika, when it is actually the Robalo. I spent four weeks on the island, and a lot of time in that valley, so I'm quite sure about this. The Ukika river is east of town, and flows by the Yahgan village. Other than that, it's a really great site; thanks for sharing your photos.

This place is BEAUTIFUL, An absolute must see. The photos are very good but only make you want the reality. I was there in May 2004. The ranger station was closed down but the views of the canyon are awesome. The road out is rough in places, especially as you get nearer to the rim but passable with care. Your photos are beuatifully done. I was in the Wind River Range mid-August; I hiked from the Big Sandy Trailhead to Big Sandy Lake and did several other shorter hikes as well, and I am going back later this month (September) to go to Seneca Lake, Island Lake and Titcomb Basin. Your photos made up my mind for me; I don't care for crowds on the trail but it will be worth it to see the scenery you depicted in your photos. I hope there won't be a lot of people on the trail in late Sept. I loved the fact that you included your dog in the photos and commentary; I have a 9 month old chocolate Lab who will go with me, although she does not yet carry her own pack.

Dear Radek, Radka, first son, second son and picture archive. I can't remember how I got to your website, but I'm glad I did. A traveller like yourself and an aspirant to better pictures (not like yourself), I have just had the pleasure to spend one hour of my life looking at truly inspiring photographs and read of adventures that are still ahead of me (I'm preparing for Patagonia). Please tell me more about your photographic equipment. I'd also like to know about an external lightmeter you use if at all. You might be able to give me useful information on any outdoor gear you must have tried and tested countless times by now. Do you hold exhibitions at all? Have you published any of your photos? I live together with a Hasselblad black-and-white photographer who will be delighted to look at your page. There are few people who take the time to share their passions with others to this extent so those who do are appreciated all the more. Thanks for making this such a remarkable read. Hope to hear from you soon, Manuela, German but living in Italy.

Some how I came across your a year or so ago and book marked it. Tonight I finally found the time to view your work. Extrordinary! In the seventies I spent a considerable amount of time packing in some wonderfull places among them the Wind River Range and upper Titicumb Lake. I enjoyed your comment about being afraid of heights but still loving the mountains. At one time in oakland there was a backpacking store up the street from Sierra Designs that sold poster size prints of mountain scenes similar to yours. There maybe a market. Good luck

Great pics of the wind river!! I am going back this spring with my wife. We may also bring the dog, as you did. We are looking into the same area you had visited. probably 1-2 days in, 1 night rest/ look around, then 2 out. I hiked around the cirque before and it was beautiful, doing a nice round trip around war bonnet, bear lake, washakie pass, and mirror lake.

Wonderful photos and I share your concern for calling attention to this place for fear of desecration. I wonder why you bring polotics ( " the current administration" ) into your dialog. My brother was out there a few months and two ( elitist democrats ) were rapelling down the face of the cliffs with a handyman jack and prying boulders off and sending them crashing to the bottom. That! is something to be stopped!

Wonderful story and beautiful pictures. My wife, our dog Irene (a 7 yr. old B & W Cocker Spaniel)and I backpacked this same trail on our honeymoon in September of 97. I was quite touched by your pictures and story. Unfortantely, our pictures of Island Lake & the Titcomb Basin were ruined when I dropped our camera in the water rock hopping on the second lake of the Basin. We made our base camp on one of the few places to camp on Seneca Lake and did day hikes from there. Unfortunately did not have enough time to get to Indian Pass. We had such a great time that we named our current dog (a Flat Coat Retriever)Seneca. I am a former Denverite, but now live in MN and spend much of our Mountain time in the Beartooth Mountains, as they our the closest to us and we can take our dog with no problems.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your story.

Fabulous photographs!
I especially like the ones of Utah and the Wind River mountains.
I lived in Utah for over a decade and spent a lot of time exploring Utah and surrounding states.
I spent many weeks over many summers up in the Wind Rivers -- hiking and climbing in many of the same areas you went to: photographer's point, Island lake, Titcomb basin, Indian basin, etc.
It's kind of funny that you ended up there. It's one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the Lower 48, but most people here in the States (even right next door in Utah!) have never even heard of it, so it's ironic that someone who was just here for a brief time traveling around would happen on it almost by chance.
You also chose what is probably one of the most spectacular areas in the Wind rivers (Titcomb basin) to visit, though there are lots of other nice ones as well (any of them, for that matter)
By the way, I don't recall seeing any pictures here of the most prominent (and most voracious) wildlife in the Wind Rivers (mosquitos!)

Wind River is not considered a Yellowstone River tributary, although the Big Horn is. It is unfortunate that the river possesses two names describing the upper and lower reaches. Most excellent photos, though. Indian Pass is a topic of conservation among us at present - some dismissing a view of the Tetons can be had from the Indian Pass. Would you have a photo to share?

Radek, your pictures are fantastic! My brother and I attempted to summit Paiute Peak last Friday (8/7/09), but ran out of time. Our guide book was way off on time estimates, saying it's one hour and 3 minutes to Blue Lake, and another hour to the summit from there. What a lie. It took us 2 1/2 hours to Blue Lake, then another hour to advance 1000 feet higher.
