Santiago de Chile
We did not spend much time in Santiago. We arrived on Christmas day late in the
morning and left early in the morning the next day. It was quite a change
going from winter in Denver to the hot and humid Santiago. I was a little
surprised by the humidity as the surrounding areas looked quite dry from the
plane, but I guess it was just that kind of a day. Santiago is not that
far from the Pacific coast after all. We stayed at a
downtown hotel and spent a good part of the afternoon exploring the
downtown. We left Pablo Neruda's house for early evening, but having spent
the previous night on the plane, we ended up watching the Star Wars trilogy
on TV instead. That was a treat and at least for a while it felt like
Christmas.
