I knew Minnesota winters were cold, but our first one started like one for the record books.
There was a dusting of snow on the ground on Thanksgiving and when our friends told us it would not melt till the end of March, it definitely seemed like a stretch to me. People tend to exaggerate when it comes to weather. Well, Minneapolis ended up with its second snowiest December on record. It stayed below zero degrees Fahrenheit for days around Christmas, and as much as I like snow, there were days when I felt the combination of 30mph winds, below zero temperatures, and blowing snow is too much of the good thing. It is ironic that I am writing this in Minneapolis during the worst cold spell since then.
The snow did finally melt in early April...
