Rocky Mountain National Park is hard to beat if quick access to beautiful mountain scenery is what you desire. You can count on not being alone, which is why I avoid it in summer. As the park's main attraction, the Trail Ridge Road, closes for the winter, which comes early and leaves late here, crowds diminish outside of the summer season and the farther you venture into a snow covered landscape, the more likely it is that you will find some solitude too. More often than not, the wind will be blowing too, but walking the parks trails after a recent snowstorm is an experience you are not likely to forget.
