On the last weekend before the road to Brainard Lake season closed for the season, Philippe and I decided to do "something easy" in the area. We picked the trail to Pawnee Pass. Having left Boulder before 6am, we caught a beautiful sunrise at the lake. We hiked along Long Lake to Lake Isabelle, and higher up toward Pawnee Pass. It was a very windy day and by the time we got to a ridge at 12,540ft, we reached the cloud ceiling. On top of that, thw wind was blowing snow around reducing visibilyt even more. We turned around, and back home I found that we stopped some less than a quarter mile from the pass. Hey, we accomplished what we set out to do.
