Our April attempt to climb Jasper Peak starting from Eldora failed and we settled for reaching Jasper Lake which was quite a feat given the lack of snowshoes and conditions we encountered. It would be a long day hike if there were no snow. The snow, lots of it, was melting fast. We lost the trail several times, postholed up to our hips, and upon reaching Jasper Lake, Philip had pools of water in his boots. My boots kept their water resistance a little longer but not all the way back either. All in all, a great day in the mountains.
