Driving the entire length of the Richardson Highway, about 360 miles from Fairbanks to Valdez, is certainly a memorable experience. The highway meets the Alcan, or the Alaska Highway, at Delta Junction. It is the end of Alcan, and it is some 1,420 miles to its beginning in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. The Richardson Highway then turns south and crosses the Alaska Range at Isabel Pass, 3,000ft. It passes the volcanoes of Wrangell Mountains and cuts through the Chugach Range before descending to the port of Valdez. Worthington Glacier is easily accessible from the highway near Thompson Pass, 2771ft.
