Denali Highway connects the Richardson Highway and George Parks Highway
just south of the Alaska Range. Only a few miles are paved and the rest
is a pot-holed gravel road. After the completion of the George Parks Highway,
its importance as a connection to Denali NP has diminished and it now
closes for the winter. Much of the road is above the tree line. Surrounding
lakes, rivers, and the Alaskan range to the north all combine for beautiful
scenery.
