A day trip from Albuquerque brought us to Acoma Pueblo on a beautiful early spring day. A guided tour started from the fancy Sky City Cultural Center. A bus took us to the pueblo up on a mesa. The pueblo has been continuously inhabited for more than 800 years. It features San Esteban Del Rey Mission Church from an early 17th century and a lot of traditional adobe buildings. The guide was very informative. A few stands and small shops sold arts and crafts, such as traditional pottery, along the way in a non-intrusive and non-touristy kind of way. In the end we walked back down a steep trail to the cultural center. Driving back, we stopped a few times along the way to enjoy the surrounding southwest scenery.
