It was the first day of 2010 and a long drive from Alamogordo to Denver awaited us. We made a stop in Santa Fe to strech our legs and then continued on 285 to Colorado. As we neared the border, the sun was setting on Blanca Peak leaving me feeling a bit mushy. Driving on I-25 through evening Denver metro was nice and smooth. There is no more construction. Instead a new light rail line parallels the freeway almost all the way to the Denver Tech Center in the southern suburbs. I noticed a few new high rises in downtown Denver and as we drove by the new Broncos stadium and the new aquarium I thought to myself, great Denver is alive and well. For a moment I pondered the contrast with the SF Bay Area.
