Stanford's Taube Family Tennis Center hosted the Bank of the West Classic, a WTA tournament. It featured six of the top ten ranked players in the world and numerous other notables, such as Maria Sharapova returning from an injury. I took a few pictures before and during a first round evening session that matched up Serena Williams (#2) against Na Li (#17) and a qualifier, Melanie Oudin (#70), against a Stanford junior, Hilary Barte. The first match was quite competitive and Serena Williams prevailed in a second set tiebreak after a hard hitting contest.
