White Sands

I am fascinated by sand dunes. A spring trip to the Colorado Great Sand Dunes just whetted my appetite for more sand. The Great Sands are some four hours north of Albuquerque. Three hours south are the White Sands. I have been to White Sands before - I wrote a bit about visiting and photographing in the White Sands NM in 2003. That was likely my third visits down there. Like those visits, my more recent visit and my last visit took place in winter. This was to be my first visit in summer and we planned it to include one night of backcountry camping among the dunes.
