I heard a call of the high peaks loud and clear when Irina and I passed Blanca Peak on our trip to the Colorado sand dunes in May. So when I was offered to join a hike up Mt. Whitney, at 14,505ft the tallest mountain in California and for that matter the contiguous U.S., I could not resist. I still had a mental image of it from the first time I saw it. The trip ended up being a great flashback to my fourteener hikes in Colorado and big kudos goes to Laku for organizing the trip and getting all the permits.
