This was going to be our first true ski trip with the kids. We had driven by Kirkwood on the way to Lake Tahoe several times and I always thought it would be a nice place for a ski trip with the kids as it is does not seem as busy as the casino resorts around Tahoe. It also sits higher than the Lake Tahoe resorts. It proved to be a great choice. The meadow below the slopes was a great place to build a snow man. The ski lifts were within walking distance, and the conditions in the second half of March were great. We checked the kids into ski school every day, skied all day, and then picked them up. Philip made great progress on his second day, probably thanks to his ski instructor Carol. He could ski down the beginner slope on his own. ride the chair lift, ...
